Sterling Silver Nautilus Necklace

“WE ARE LIKE BUTTERFLIES WHO FLUTTER FOR A DAY AND THINK IT IS FOREVER “

Sterling silver nautilus or ammonite fossil pendant necklace.

This sterling silver pendant measures approximately 1.5″ tall, including the loops. It has been organically etched with a distressed swirling nautilus fossil, to look like a piece recently discovered and unearthed. It was then given a softly brushed satin finish, and lightly polished. A light application of patina to the pendant and chain highlights all the fine details and adds depth. The substantial pendant has a lovely weight and hangs from an elegant circular 18″ sterling silver chain, which catches the light so beautifully. All loops are soldered for strength.

There is a magic to fossils; the way they often emerge, like magic, from the ground. History shows how many cultures attached huge significance to these enigmatic relics from the past, believing them to be symbols of their deities. They are often seen as amulets for protection, purity or healing. They are a reminder that life can be brief, so we should do our best to leave an impression, and make our mark on the world in the best way possible.

This sterling silver fossil necklace has a tactile feel and a serene presence. Strong yet elegant, it waits for the right wearer.

Part of my “Wild Earth” collection, a celebration of the natural world, its landscapes and wild inhabitants. These pieces are created as a reminder that there is no better designer than Nature, and to find enough beauty to fill the soul, we need only look around us.

Designed and lovingly created in my studio in Moray, Scotland.

I work in sterling silver, ancient bronze, copper and brass, with natural semi-precious gemstones. I make pieces which are perfect for layering together, mixing and matching, so you can grow your collection and choose your pieces according to your mood, or the inspiration you want to gain that day.

Each piece is unique. Whilst I may create similar pieces, as every piece is made individually by hand, no two will ever be the same. I am registered with Edinburgh Assay Office for precious metal work.
