Silver Raven Pendant

“WE ARE STARS WRAPPED IN SKIN. THE LIGHT YOU ARE SEEKING HAS ALWAYS BEEN WITHIN”

Sterling silver raven pendant necklace.

This sterling pendant measures approximately 1″ tall. Deeply etched with a raven or crow in flight, forged and hammered for an earthy, distressed finish, oxidised and brushed to highlight all the details, and polished for a touch of shine. It has a wonderfully tactile feel, and hangs from a lightly oxidised heavy/sturdy sterling silver chain.

Whilst I love all our feathered friends, corvids are my favourite birds. There is a wealth of mythology surrounding ravens and crows in numerous cultures. Native Americans see the raven as a symbol of transformation, associated with the creation of the world and the gift of sunlight to mankind. For the ancient Greeks, the crow was a symbol of Apollo in his role as god of prophecy; a symbol of good luck and communication. In the Hebrew Talmud, ravens are credited with teaching mankind how to deal with grief. In Welsh folklore, the raven was seen as a guardian of Britain. The presence of ravens at the Tower of London is an echo of this legend, and the prophecy says that if the ravens ever leave the tower, Britain will fall.

Let this totem necklace be your own personal guardian. May it bring sunlight to your soul, good fortune, and the ability to deal with difficulties secure in the knowledge that you are being watched over in spirit.

Part of my “Wild Earth” collection, a celebration of the natural world, its landscapes and wild inhabitants. These pieces are created as a reminder that there is no better designer than Nature, and to find enough beauty to fill the soul, we need only look around us.

Designed and lovingly created in my studio in Moray, Scotland.

I work in sterling silver, ancient bronze, copper and brass, with natural semi-precious gemstones. I make pieces which are perfect for layering together, mixing and matching, so you can grow your collection and choose your pieces according to your mood, or the inspiration you want to gain that day.

Each piece is unique. Whilst I may create similar pieces, as every piece is made individually by hand, no two will ever be the same. I am registered with Edinburgh Assay Office for precious metal work.
