Raven Loop Necklace

“WE ARE STARS WRAPPED IN SKIN. THE LIGHT YOU ARE SEEKING HAS ALWAYS BEEN WITHIN.”

Sterling silver raven or crow necklace.

This oval sterling pendant measures approximately 1″ tall. and dangles from a silver loop. The entire pendant, including loop section, measures just under 1.5″ long. The silver has been deeply etched with a raven or crow in flight. It was then forged and hammered for an earthy distressed finish, oxidised and brushed to highlight all the details, and given the lightest polish for just a touch of shine. It has a wonderfully tactile feel, and hangs from a sturdy oxidised sterling silver chain, in your chosen length.

Hard-wearing and comfortable to wear, chunky but not too big, designed to be noticed yet it’s a ‘wear with anything’ kind of piece. This will be your favourite ‘go to’ necklace; you’ll never want to take it off.

Whilst I love all our feathered friends, corvids are my favourite birds. I have a family of crows that visit my studio frequently and happily accept a peanut or two. There is a wealth of mythology surrounding ravens and crows in numerous cultures. Native Americans see the raven as a symbol of transformation, associated with the creation of the world and the gift of sunlight to mankind. For the ancient Greeks, the crow was a symbol of Apollo in his role as god of prophecy; a symbol of good luck and communication. In the Hebrew Talmud, ravens are credited with teaching mankind how to deal with grief. In Welsh folklore, the raven was seen as a guardian of Britain. The presence of ravens at the Tower of London is an echo of this legend, and the prophecy says that if the ravens ever leave the tower, Britain will fall.

Let this totem necklace be your own personal guardian. May it bring sunlight to your soul, good fortune, and the ability to cope with difficulties secure in the knowledge that you are being watched over in spirit.

As each piece is made individually by hand, there may be very slight differences in forging, which will make yours, in some small way, entirely unique to you.

Part of my “Wild Earth” collection, a celebration of the natural world, its landscapes and wild inhabitants. These pieces are created as a reminder that there is no better designer than Nature, and to find enough beauty to fill the soul, we need only look around us.

Designed and lovingly created in my studio in Moray, Scotland.

I work in sterling silver, ancient bronze, copper and brass, with natural semi-precious gemstones. I make pieces which are perfect for layering together, mixing and matching, so you can grow your collection and choose your pieces according to your mood, or the inspiration you want to gain that day.

Each piece is unique. Whilst I may create similar pieces, as every piece is made individually by hand, no two will ever be the same. I am registered with Edinburgh Assay Office for precious metal work.
