Ancient Bronze Tableau Necklace
“INTO THE FOREST I GO, TO LOSE MY WORRIES AND FIND MY SOUL”
Inspired by long walks in the woods, this rustic ancient bronze tableau necklace has been carefully textured to resemble tree bark.
This bronze pendant measures approximately 3/4″ tall. The bronze was hand-sawn, shaped and textured, brushed then polished back to enhance the gorgeous gleam of pink bronze. It hangs from a lightly oxidised 18″ sterling chain, the cool grey silver providing an interesting contrast to the warm rosy bronze.
The use of bronze in jewellery goes back as far as recorded history allows us to look. It inspired a whole age named after it. Strong and hard-wearing, it has a wonderful pinkish glow that reminds me of rose gold, only more durable. It is one of my favourite metals to work with.
A strong yet elegant piece, perfect as an everyday necklace, and for layering with other longer pieces.
Wear it as a daily reminder to keep your eyes on the forest, not on the trees.
Part of my “Organics & Textures” collection, inspired by the natural world and the shapes and textures we see around us every day. Tree bark under the hand, sandstone underfoot, patterns on a leaf catching the eye. These pieces represent an emotional connectedness to the natural world. We evolved in nature, it is in our DNA. As busy lives force us to spend less time in it, it is important to carry a reminder of what majesty is out there waiting for us.
Designed and lovingly created in my studio in Moray, Scotland.
I work in sterling silver, ancient bronze, copper and brass, with natural semi-precious gemstones. I make pieces which are perfect for layering together, mixing and matching, so you can grow your collection and choose your pieces according to your mood, or the inspiration you want to gain that day.
Each piece is unique. Whilst I may create similar pieces, as every piece is made individually by hand, no two will ever be the same. I am registered with Edinburgh Assay Office for precious metal work.
