18ct Gold Bail Crow Feather Pendant
“THERE IS LIGHT IN DARKNESS, YOU JUST HAVE TO FIND IT”
18ct gold and sterling silver crow feather pendant.
This substantial oxidised sterling silver feather pendant measures just over 2.5″ in length, and is imprinted with the natural pattern from a real crow feather. It has then been hand-sawn, shaped and selectively hammered to complement the feather detailing. A chunky quill of solid 18ct gold runs partly along the feather and wraps fluidly around the top, creating a beautifully curved golden bail, through which the chunky sterling silver chain threads.
The feather has been darkly oxidised and lightly brushed to highlight all the fine details, and then polished for a deep shimmer. The 18ct gold shines brightly above the dark silver. The feather hangs from an oxidised sturdy sterling silver chain, in your chosen length. Equally beautiful worn on the neckline on a shorter chain, or hanging on a long chain that pops over the head for ease of wear.
This feather was created by carefully imprinting the pattern from a genuine crow feather deep into the silver, using traditional processes. As each silver feather I make is created from a different crow feather, no two will ever be the same. No crows are harmed in obtaining these feathers! I am fortunate to have several friendly crows living nearby, who are always happy to see me and accept the occasional peanut. During their summer moult they leave many feathers behind and I carefully collect and store each one. As all my crow feather pendants are created from these gathered feathers, they are strictly limited in supply, depending upon how many feathers I am gifted each year.
The perfect piece for a crow lover, and for anyone needing a gentle, visual reminder that no matter our troubles, the light IS always there if we allow ourselves to see it.
May it always bring light and comfort to the wearer.
Part of my ‘Seek the Light’ collection.
Each piece of jewellery in this collection is one-of-a-kind, created by hand from sterling silver and 18ct gold. The darkly oxidised silver represents life’s struggles, but the golden light is always there, seeping in, around the edges, through the cracks, bringing hope and illuminating the way. There is always a glimmer of light, if we seek it out, if we let it in.
Tactile pieces to hold onto for comfort and positivity; a visual reminder that the light IS always there if we seek it, if we allow ourselves to see it.
All pieces are one of a kind, and are assayed and hallmarked by the historic Edinburgh Assay Office. May they bring you light and warmth when you need it most.
